Description:
Tropical Fruit Production focuses on tropical fruit, nut, and beverage crops, emphasizing those that are important in Hawaiian agriculture. Students will be introduced to major tropical fruit commodities and some minor crops in cultivation in the state. Each species is reviewed with regard to its economic importance, taxonomic affiliations, geographic origin and domestication history, plant/fruit morphology and reproductive biology, genetic variation, propagation method, environmental requirements, distinctive cultural practices, and major pests and diseases.
