Description:
In this course students will will conduct an extensive investigation into developmental aspects of childhood. Students will examine theories and research on child development and historical and current issues that affect the developing child. The course will be a combination of lecture, discussion, and hands-on experience and students are expected to ask questions, bring up important additional information, and voice students' opinions. The emphasis is not on what is “right” or “wrong,” but on developing well-informed views by taking into account child development theories and research, institutional norms, governmental policies, and opposing opinions. Pre: 230 (Human Development). This course has been approved for meeting DS (Social Sciences Diversification) UHM Graduation Focus Requirements.
