Welina Manoa

Nothing says “Welcome Back” like UH Manoa’s inaugural Welina Manoa: And the Adventure Begins 2017. This event welcomed thousands of students back to campus and made them aware of UH Manoa’s wide variety of resources. Aside from CTAHR’s Academic and Student Affairs Office (ASAO), Natural Resource and Environmental Management (NREM) Department, Tropical Plant and Soil Sciences (TPSS) Department, TPSS Graduate Student Organization, Horticulture Society, and Student Organic Farm Training (SOFT) were among the 88 organizations that participated in this event. At the ASAO booth, students played CTAHR trivia, and took pictures with our CTAHR, Grow With Us photo frame. Dr. Catherine Chan and LaJoy Lindsey chit-chatted with students about NREM, Drs. Muszynski, Baldos, Amore, and Kobayashi (TPSS) talked about various aspects of horticulture, TPSS GSO and Horticulture Society had plants to give away, and SOFT had a ‘Make It, Take It’ station where students could transplant succulents or lettuce seedlings and take it home with them.
