Dr. Kinoshita (MBBE) together with CTAHR’s Academic and Student Affairs Office and the Hawaii State Department of Agriculture hosted its inaugural Curriculum for Agriculture Science Education (CASE) Institute for teachers in June. Nineteen teachers from local high schools and the mainland participated in the 10-day workshop on the Introduction to Agriculture, Food, and Natural Resources. Participants learned to solve problems, conduct research, analyze data, work in teams, and take responsibility for their work, actions, and learning, by utilizing curriculum that is aligned with national standards for Agriculture, Science, Mathematics, and English Language Arts. Participants will take the agriculture focused scientific knowledge and practices they’ve gained and apply them at their own respective school this current school year.
