This summer held the first system-wide, multi-day agricultural study tour on August 2-4. Participating students were from CTAHR, Windward Community College, Leeward Community College, Kauai Community College, Hawaii Community College (HawCC), and UH Hilo. Student interests included agroforestry, horticulture, resource management and much more. The 17 students were scheduled to visit eleven sites spanning Hilo to Kona during the short three days. Highlight locations include Green Point Nurseries, Natural Energy Labs of Hawaii, and The Vanillerie. Students managed to overcome heavy showers to still take advantage of visiting diverse agricultural facilities, enjoying the company of new people, and networking with professionals. Special mahalo to HawCC’s Orlo Steele for coordinating the program and Lew Nakamura for driving. Thank you the National Institute for Food and Agriculture for sponsoring this trip!
