Final Events of the Year

On April 2nd, the 2022 in-person Manoa Experience event brought 2,914 prospective and admitted students and their families to the Manoa campus to learn about CTAHR's undergraduate programs.  Mahalo to everyone who spent time preparing for and working at the Manoa Experience event! Although the last two years have been a blur with Manoa Experience being on hiatus, it is impressive how CTAHR can continue to pivot as needed to share how amazing CTAHR is! Check out all the booths on CTAHR's Flickr.

Thank you to CTAHR Dean Nicholas Comerford and all of our 56 CTAHR faculty and staff who came to participate in Manoa Experience.  The CTAHR faculty representatives included Andy Reilly, Brent Sipes, Daniel Jenkins, David Christopher, Jenee Odani, Koon-Hui Wang, Kristin Matsumoto, Lara Hackney, Miaoying Tian, Michael Cheang, Michael Kantar, Minako McCarthy, Monica Esquivel, Rheta Kuwahara, Ryan Kurasaki, Soojin Jun, Sothy Eng, Thao Le, and Tomoaki Miura.

CTAHR held the final Grab and Go on April 28th and students came to stock up of fresh produce, canned goods, and pantry staples before finals.  We are extremely grateful for everyone who has donated over the year including the Coalition to Stop Campus Hunger (over 1000 lbs), GoFarm Hawaii (275 pounds), Urban Garden Center's Fruit Hui (736 pounds), Aloha Harvest (580 pounds), as well as funding from the Student Activity and Program Fee Board and the Associated Students of the University of Hawaii at Manoa.

The CTAHR's April Cooking Show was on April 29th featured Latin dishes like Mushroom Tortilla Soup, Pao de Queijo (Brazillian Cheese Bread), and Dulce de Leche Crepes.  Join us again next year as well explore more cuisines!

CTAHR Alumni & Friends spent May Day 2022 learning how to construct beautiful lei po‘o. After an informative demo on proper foliage gathering techniques with Alumna Rebecca Barone, the 28 participants were presented with various materials to choose from. CTAHR Alumna Samantha Alvarado then gave instructions on how to assemble their choices to make wili-style lei. The creativity flowed, and participants made everything from wristlets to hairpieces and full head lei with loving care. If you could not join us, stay tuned for the next lei-making event in December!  Check out more photos on CTAHR's Flickr.
