Tree People

Here’s an opportunity for future foresters; arborists; and anyone interested in trees, climate mitigation, and green infrastructure: the Growing Our Urban Forest Conference! It’s presented by Trees for Honolulu’s Future, which is leading the movement to reach 35% tree canopy coverage in Honolulu by 2035. Participants can learn how to become part of the green wave! The featured speaker is Ian Shears, the manager of Urban Sustainability of the city of Melbourne. He and his team have been credited with the development of some of Australia’s most progressive environmental projects and polices. The conference will be held on March 9, from 8:30 a.m. to 4:00 p.m., at Ala Wai Golf Course clubhouse, on the 2nd floor. Early bird registration extends through today, February 28, so hurry and take advantage of the reduced price! Student registration is only $25, and student involvement is especially important, so join in and show our current leaders that trees in the cities are a priority for the next generation of leaders!
