Head down to the University of Hawaiʻi insect museum on Thursday, February 16th to join the Dept. of Plant and Environmental Protection Sciences in celebrating the 214th birthday of biologist Charles Darwin. The museum will be open for this special occasion to visitors between 1:30-5:30pm in Gilmore Hall Room 607 where an exciting array of Darwin Day activities will be available, including:
● Insect-based snacks– give it a try, you just mite like it
● Buzz, the museum mascot and biggest fruit fly you’ve ever seen!
● Over 300,000 insect specimens on display
● Demonstrations of specimen preparation on un-bee-lievably tiny moths
● Insect sort-a-thon, where you can try your hand at identifying insect field specimens
● A variety of live terrestrial and marine invertebrates
● Identification of your mystery bug photos by the experts
● Bug Trivia– Every 30 minutes after 2:00pm, compete in a bug trivia contest for a chance to win some fly prizes!
