What’s Ahead for Aquaculture

The Center for Tropical and Subtropical Aquaculture, in cooperation with NOAA, last month hosted a pre-meeting for the 13th Meeting of the Aquaculture Panel on Aquaculture Coordination between the US and South Korea. The US chair of the panel is Ron Johnson, from NOAA National Marine Fisheries Service, while South Korea’s chair is Je-Cheon Jun, from the Ministry of Oceans and Fisheries.

The main purpose of this pre-meeting, “The Roadmap Development Workshop of the Korea-U.S. Joint Coordination Panel for Aquaculture Cooperation,” was to determine the potential priorities for the group’s next joint-research projects. Participants agreed to look into the areas of smart technology, genetics breeding, and new fish species. Their current priorities are disease prevention and feed development.
