Get on the Elevator!
Science communication—being able to explain highly technical findings or complex theories in a way that engages and makes sense to non-specialists—is a big trend. Being able to do this quickly and succinctly is even more important, in this age of rapidly dwindling attention spans. Enter the 3-Minute Elevator Pitch Competition, which requires students to do just that. CTAHR’s second annual competition will be held on April 20 from 3:00 to 6:00 p.m. in the Art Auditorium, ART 132. The college’s top 24 Student Research Symposium awardees will compete by presenting their research in three minutes in a compelling way that’s understandable to a general audience. There are four $1,250 cash prizes at stake—the undergraduate student award, master’s student award, Ph.D. student award, and audience choice. Come by, learn something, support the students, and vote for your favorite presentation!
