ASAO Jumps In

On October 14–16, the Office of Academic and Student Affairs participated in the 2019 Hawaii Agriculture Conference, which provided a gathering place for all sectors of Hawai‘i agriculture and brought together multiple participants and components of Hawai‘i’s food system. On October 14, intrepid members of the office jumped in the mud during an ag field trip/volunteer ag-venture at Leilehua High School’s student farm, helping to harvest their kalo patch and weed their diversified vegetable crop fields.

After cleaning up, they spent the next two days exhibiting at the conference’s AgxChange, where they had the opportunity to promote CTAHR undergraduate programs to high school Future Farmers of America students and educators, meet industry partners, and catch up with many CTAHR alumni who, thanks to the technical training they gained in the college and the relationships they made here, are now engaged in a variety of agricultural careers.
