Yam Fun Facts
Yams are NOT sweet potatoes. They belong to a different plant family. Yams grow as vines and their tubers can grow up to 4.9 feet in length and weigh up to 154 lbs! They are highly regarded for their size, texture, delicious flavor and cultural values.
Yams are a good source of energy. The best method of cooking yams is to roast them over hot coals or to bake them whole in an underground earth oven.
