Pathogens & Hosts

Over four Exserohilum species have been reported to occur in Hawaii (Raabe, et al., 1981). The following is a list of the reported pathogens from this genus (Exserohilum) and the hosts they infect. The list is organized by the scientific name of the pathogen species (CAPITAL LETTERS), followed by the symptom or disease a given pathogen causes on the listed hosts.

EXSEROHILUM PEDICELLATUM

Leafspot:

  • corn, maize (Zea mays)

EXSEROHILUM ROSTRATUM

Flower Fleck:

  • Dendrobium sp.
  • Seedling Blight:
  • sorghum (Sorghum bicolor)
  • feterita (Sorghum caudatum)

EXSEROHILUM SP.

Leafspot:

  • golden-fruited palm (Chrysalidocarpus lutescens)
  • Manilla grass (Zoysia matrella)
  • ?mascarene grass (Zoysia tenuifolia)

EXSEROHILUM TURCICUM

Leafspot:

  • bur bristlegrass (Setaria verticillata)
  • corn, maize (Zea mays)
  • Seedling blight and Leafspot:
  • sorghum (Sorghum bicolor)
  • feterita (Sorghum caudatum)
  • broom corn (Sorghum vulgare)
