Excellent Researchers
Congratulations to master’s student Nathaniel Wehr (NREM) and PhD student Zhibin Liang (MBBE), who are the recipients of the 2018 OVCR Student Excellence in Research Award! They will each receive $1000 and will be recognized at the campus-wide awards ceremony on Friday, April 27, from 4 to 5 p.m. in Kennedy Theater. Nathaniel is researching the ecologic relationship between feral pigs and soil-microbial and macroinvertebrate communities on Pacific Islands, work that also earned him the Watson T. Yoshimoto Fellowship in the Ecology, Evolution and Conservation Biology Graduate Specialization and an award at this year’s SRS. Zhibin, who also won awards in last year’s SRS and 3MEP competition and recently successfully defended his dissertation, researches defenses against Alzheimer’s disease with his mentor Qing Li.
