Reminder to Submit Proposals for Farmer Relief

If you are or know a grower who is being impacted by the coronavirus, act now to get help! The Hawai‘i Department of Agriculture is requesting proposals for COVID-19 Emergency farmer relief, due at NOON on Friday, March 27.

Individual farming operations can apply for a maximum of $2,000 in emergency relief. Non-profits, commodity groups, or agricultural associations with 501(c)(3) status can apply for a maximum of $10,000 in emergency relief.

The goals of this initiative are to support local farmers by purchasing the supply of food produced until the demand resumes and/or by facilitating food distribution and to minimize the need to import food.

Click here to download the form. Then email the form to nicole.y.pfeffer@hawaii.gov by noon on Friday, March 27, 2020.

Completing the form does not guarantee receipt of funds. Proposals will be used to quantify the needs of local farmers to gauge the level of funding needed and to determine where the funding will have the most impact. Funding will depend on the availability and release of funds.

If you have any questions, please contact nicole.y.pfeffer@hawaii.gov.

Please forward this opportunity to stakeholders whom it may help.
