The Best of CTAHR

The Best of CTAHR
CTAHR logged another successful and enjoyable Awards Banquet last Friday, when almost 350 guests and award-winners gathered at the Ala Moana Hotel. On offer were food—a delicious and locally sourced dinner that saluted the professional activities of both major honorees; fun—games, activities, and former Ka Lei Hano and Outstanding Alumnus awardee Derek Kurisu’s signature MC style; and the chance to cheer students, faculty, and staff who have distinguished themselves in the past year. It was also a time to appreciate the multifaceted nature of the college and its community partners, from the gorgeous flowers and greenery contributed by experiment stations and Lyon Arboretum to the tributes to the century of 4-H and 90 years of Cooperative Extension in the Islands. The cutting-edge and environmentally and economically important research performed by the student and faculty honorees added another layer to the complex mixture that makes up CTAHR. And some $18,000 was added to the Centennial fund, which supports first-generation students in CTAHR majors. All that, plus ‘ono chocolate produced right at Komohana—thanks go to Alyssa Cho (TPSS) and her team!—and what could be better? Check out the college’s Flickr page for photos of the event!
