As a graduate of the University of Hawaiʻi’s Zoology Ph.D. program, Dr. Andre Seale found his way to CTAHR as a current Associate Research professor in the Dept. of Human Nutrition, Food and Animal Sciences. He has made a positive impact on his students, engaging them through both real-world experiences outside of the classroom, as well as creating a welcoming and encouraging learning environment within. As one student puts it, “Even with his busy schedule, he makes time to foster a positive learning environment and use his extensive experience to help his students learn and thrive. He arrives early to class and stays late to answer any questions from his students.”
When students describe Andre, common themes come to light: he treats students of all backgrounds equally, is approachable and challenging, and goes above and beyond to support student success. He has built a reputation beyond academia and aquaculture research, inspiring the next generation of scientists to excel and foster the same values to persons they may one day serve as mentors to.
