2025 CTAHR Outsanding Alumnus, John McHugh

CTAHR is proud to announce the recipient of our 2025 Outstanding Alumnus Award, Dr. John McHugh. A two-time graduate of CTAHR with a B.S. in General Tropical Agriculture (1975) and an M.S. in Horticulture (1980), John went on to earn a Ph.D. in Entomology from Purdue University, College of Agriculture, in 1994.

He has nearly 50 years of wide-ranging experience in agriculture as an entomologist, educator, business owner, and consultant working for notable companies and organizations such as Sumida Farm, DuPont Pioneer, Hawaiʻi Department of Agriculture, and Oahu RC&D. In addition, John has taught and mentored several generations of students at Leeward Community College and the University of Hawaiʻi at Mānoa’s College of Tropical Agriculture and Human Resilience.
 

To learn more about John and how he has proven to be an exemplary CTAHR Alumni, utilizing his education in furtherance of our highest ideals of Research, Education and Service to the community, make sure to attend the CTAHR Conference Closing Reception and Banquet on April 11th at the Japanese Cultural Center of Hawaiʻi.
