ADMISSIONS REQUIREMENTS

Required Examinations

The Educational Testing Service (ETS)

institutional code for University of Hawai‘i at Manoa is 4867. A department code is not necessary. 

The following tests must be taken and testing scores should be recieved by the University of Hawaii by:
  Februrary 1 for the Fall Semester  or
  September 1 for the Spring Semester

GRE® scores (no minimum score required)

TOEFL® score (for Foreign Applicants only) Foreign students must obtain minimum TOEFL scores of 600 minimum, 250 computer (IBT 100). Admission may be possible without prerequisites, in which case the student must complete deficiencies in the first year

International English Language Testing System (IELTS) score is accepted. The minimum required IELTS score is 7.0. IELTS scores have a recommended two year validity period.

Nutritional Science (MS) Admission Requirements

  • bachelor's degree (BA or BS) in nutrition, or a closely related field, from an accredited institution of higher learning

  • minimum GPA of 3.0

  • at least one undergraduate course in nutrition, human physiology, biochemistry, and statistics

  • GRE general test scores.  No minimum score required

  • TOEFL iBT Test or IELTS Test.  Foreign applicants must have a minimum TOEFL score of 100 iBT (600 paper,                          250 computer) or IELTS score of 7.0

  • An interview is recommended for residents of Hawaii. A phone interview may be requested from out-of-state applicants.
