Bring Awareness

Want to spread the good word about ag and hang out with fifth-graders? Volunteer for the annual CTAHR Agriculture and Environmental Awareness (AEA) Day! The purpose of AEA Day is to create a greater awareness and understanding of agriculture and the environment among students and teachers and to introduce students to career opportunities in agriculture and environmental studies. There will be presenters and exhibitors from various agriculture and environmental fields across the state and over 500 students from public schools throughout O‘ahu. This is a great opportunity to help introduce the keiki of Hawai‘i to the various agriculture and environmental career opportunities out there. Volunteers are needed to help with various tasks such as set-up/break-down, directing students, passing out food, and generally helping to make the event run smoothly. AEA Day takes place on Thursday, February 7, and volunteers need to be on duty from 7:15 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. It will be at the Urban Garden Center—955 Kamehameha Hwy, Pearl City, HI 96782. Please wear a CTAHR or UH t-shirt if you have one, and any style of shorts or pants. On-site vehicle parking is available at the Urban Garden Center, and a map of the Urban Garden Center will be sent to you as the event gets closer. Lunch will be provided for all volunteers. If you are interested in volunteering this year, please RSVP here by January 22. If you have any questions or concerns, you can contact the Academic and Student Affairs office.
