CTAHR Master Gardeners are honoring a special tree and the scholar it commemorates at the Alice Ball Day celebration on Friday, February 28, from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. The site of the celebration on Friday will be the chaulmoogra tree by Bachman Hall, which a group of Master Gardeners have adopted and care for.

CTAHR will be contributing to the annual Grow Hawaiian Festival at the Amy B.H. Greenwell Ethnobotanical Garden on the Big Island, held on Saturday, February 29. The festival, which is returning after a hiatus of five years, brings together lovers of plants, natural history, and Hawaiian culture.

The Urban Garden Center is hosting a Produce Safety Alliance Food Safety grower-training event that will teach participants all they need to know about growing safely, healthily, and in compliance with regulations. It’s being offered on Friday, March 13, from 9:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m.

Mehana Vaughan (NREM) has collaborated with two other scholars to research, create, and implement a new audio track to be played on the tourist shuttles that travel to remote parts of Kaua‘i. The recording informs riders about the sacred areas of Kaua‘i and the roles they have played throughout Kaua‘i's history, as well as how to have a respectful and safe visit.
