Students who enjoy NPR’s Science Friday and want to see a CTAHR professor in action may want to check out an evening event hosted by Ira Flato, host of Science Friday, at the Hawaii Theatre on July 6 at 7:30 p.m., featuring interviews with Melissa Price (NREM) and other UH professors.

The Taste of the Hawaiian Range is returning to its agricultural roots and taking on a more family-friendly focus this year. It will consist of a free day-long ag festival, including farm tours and fun and educational activities for keiki, followed by a cooking demo and the much-anticipated evening food-tasting gala.

Jinan Banna (HNFAS) has been selected as a Fulbright specialist to work with the Universidad Veritas in San Jose, Costa Rica, where she will be training faculty in course development for several courses in nutrition.

Animal scientist, CTAHR alumnus, and retired HNFAS professor Jim Carpenter has received the 2018 Outstanding Alumni Award from the College of Agriculture and Life Sciences at the University of Vermont. Jim got his MS in Animal Nutrition from CTAHR in 1969 and returned to teach here after getting his PhD.

Last week, CTAHR’s Kaua‘i team and the Kaua‘i County Farm Bureau jointly hosted the 23rd Annual Agriculture & Environmental Awareness Day at the Kaua‘i Agricultural Research Center, with multiple exhibits and lectures for the 5th-grade students from local schools who attended.
