The Hawaii Floriculture and Nursery Association (HFNA) presented CTAHR’s Waiakea Research Station with a $7,500 donation to support research benefiting the floriculture and nursery industries, such as development of new cultivars and control of pests and diseases. The check was presented to interim Hawai‘i County administrator Susan Miyasaka and TPSS research support Joanne Imamura by HFNA president and 2017 Ka Lei Hano award winner Eric Tanouye at the HFNA Educational Research Seminar held in Hilo on October 12. Mahalo to HFNA for their support of CTAHR research! In turn, HFNA can use the college’s expertise in Extension now more than ever, since floriculture and nursery is one of the industries most impacted by the recent eruptions of Kilauea’s vent.
