On Sunday, December 8, over 35,000 participants ran, walked, or rolled across the finish line at the 52nd Annual Honolulu Marathon. Proud CTAHR-ians, including staff, students and alumni, were among the finishers who persevered through the 26.2 mile course.
Please join me in extending the warmest congratulations to our Extension faculty (A and S) who have received recognition from their clients, peers, and the University for their contributions. Because of these individuals, CTAHR Cooperative Extension is improving people’s lives, economies, communities.
The next CTAHR ʻOhana Banquet is set for Friday, April 12, 2024, during which 11 Dean’s Awards for Excellence will be presented. Some of these awards begin with a nomination process – and that’s where YOU can be instrumental in helping the college recognize the truly special and exemplary efforts among our faculty, staff, students and volunteers. Visit the Banquet page to view past recipients.
The last year has been an especially challenging one for Maui County, and even more so for Molokaʻi, due to Ag Tech and Secretary shortages, fiscal purchasing barriers, theft of equipment, difficult neighbors, the search and addition of two new faculty, an unsigned lease with DHHL, transitional leadership within CTAHR, and last but not least, the sudden UHMC commitment changes related to the Molokaʻi Farm, which led CTAHR to vacate the farm and consolidate our efforts at our office location.
The search for a new CTAHR dean is on, and the CTAHR ‘ohana are encouraged to participate and meet the finalists during their visits. At the invitation of UH Provost Bruno, the three candidates will visit the Mānoa campus October 25-27, November 6-8, and November 15-17.
