Housing Our Veterans

When U.S. Vets opened a local chapter in Hawaiʻi, it was the only local organization to support homeless veterans specifically. Seventeen years later, it continues to serve those who’ve served their nation by providing housing, employment and mental health services.

Funds flowing through Aloha United Way have helped U.S. Vets to create programs to help our island communities but AUW has also enabled “us to partner with other agencies that offer services to augment what we’re doing already,” said COO Darryl Vincent. “It’s been a great partnership throughout the years.”

“We couldn’t do the work that we’re doing without AUW contributing to our organization and helping to solve veteran homelessness,” he continued. “Now more than ever, it’s our turn to partner together to ensure that everyone is staying as safe as possible.”

You have an opportunity to show your support for our Hawaiʻi family and friends. Please visit the UH AUW webpage and log in with your UH user/password to donate. You also can obtain a form-fillable pledge (PDF). For instructions/help, visit the UH ePledge page. To earmark your donation toward a specific nonprofit org, visit the AUW Nonprofit Donor Choice booklet.

The Office of Communication Services is this year’s department coordinator for CTAHR donations. For questions, please contact OCS at ocs@ctahr.hawaii.edu or (808) 956-7036. Mahalo for your kōkua.
