MOLECULAR CROSS-TALKING
Miaoying Tian (PEPS) will be hosting a Fulbright scholar, Md Tofazzal Islam, on campus on March 9, 12, and 13. Dr. Islam is from the Department of Biotechnology of the Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman Agricultural University in Bangladesh and is currently visiting West Virginia University. He is internationally known for his work on molecular cross-talks between plants and peronosporomycete phytopathogens, bioactive natural products, plants probiotics and wheat blast. He will present two lectures, “Genomic Analyses and Open Data Sharing for Understanding Biology and Mitigation of Worrisome Wheat Blast in Bangladesh and Asia” on Friday, March 9, at 10:30 a.m. and “Plant Probiotic Bacteria as Tools for Biorational Management of Phytopathogens” on Monday, March 12, at 10:30 a.m. Lecture location is to be determined, so stay tuned!
