Nominate for Dean’s Awards

The next CTAHR ʻOhana Banquet is set for Friday, April 12, 2024, during which 11 Dean’s Awards for Excellence will be presented. Some of these awards begin with a nomination process – and that’s where YOU can be instrumental in helping the college recognize the truly special and exemplary efforts among our faculty, staff, students and volunteers. Office of Academic and Student Affairs 

Four awards are coordinated by ASAO. These nominations can be self-nominated or made by another person, and have a deadline of December 31st, 2023. For more info, including the selection criteria, please visit 2024 Faculty Mentor, Student, and Alumnus Award Application. These awards include:

2024 Outstanding Alumnus Award: The award honors an exemplary CTAHR graduate who has utilized their education to further our highest ideals of Research, Education, and Service to the community, and who demonstrates the power of the CTAHR experience to the people of Hawai‘i, the nation, and the world. The award does more than honor its recipient. It further illustrates the great value of the academic programs and student involvement at CTAHR and increases the pride that all former students, students, staff, and faculty have for the college.

2024 Ka Pouhana Faculty Mentor Award: The award is a notable recognition bestowed upon a CTAHR faculty member who has demonstrated exceptional support for student development through co-curricular activities. The award recognizes the hard work and dedication of educators who have gone beyond their studies to achieve their students’ full potential outside of the academic setting. It is a testament to such outstanding faculty members' commitment to promoting their students' holistic development. Award  Amount: $1,000

2024 Ka Hana Poʻokela Undergraduate Student Award: The award is bestowed upon an individual who has demonstrated exceptional commitment and service to the community as an active student organization member. The awardee is selected based on their outstanding contributions to the community's betterment. Award Amount: $1,000

2024 Ka Hana Poʻokela Graduate Student Award: The award is bestowed upon an individual who has demonstrated exceptional commitment and service to the community as an active student organization member. The awardee is selected based on their outstanding contributions to the community's betterment. Award Amount: $1,000

Extension

Volunteers are the lifeblood of many CTAHR efforts, such as the statewide 4-H and Master Gardener programs. It is because of these individuals and their invaluable, ongoing support that our college can continue to serve the communities of Hawai‘i.

CTAHR’s Office of Extension is accepting nominations for the 2024 Outstanding Extension Volunteer of the Year Award. The submission deadline is December 29, 2023. Please download the nomination form and send your nomination form(s) to extsec@hawaii.edu.

Human Resources

Two awards are coordinated by CTAHR’s Office of Human Resources, using an open nomination process. Please submit your nomination forms directly to the Dean’s office. The Dean and Associate Deans evaluate the nominations and determine the award winners. These awards include:

2024 Dean’s Award for Excellence in an APT Employee: This award recognizes a CTAHR staff member whose work has demonstrated outstanding performance and significant results. The APT nomination submission deadline is February 1, 2024. Award Amount: $1,000

2024 Dean’s Award for Excellence in a Civil Service Employee: This award recognizes a CTAHR staff member whose work has demonstrated outstanding performance and significant results. The Civil Service nomination submission deadline is February 1, 2024. Award Amount: $1,000
