6. The prospective recipient should have some financial need although not necessarily as defined by federal guidelines. 
7. The prospective recipient should have GPA of 3.0 or higher for a minimum of one semester.

9. The prospective recipient should have a major of animal Sciences with interest in sustainable dairy or other livestock production. 
10. There is a number and amount of award shall be determined by the selection committee based on the availability of funds. Recipients are eligible for scholarship renewal up to three times so long as all criteria are met.

    1) Demonstrate participation in extra-curricular activities and/or community services etc.;
    2) have self-identified an interest in research or activities that would help enhance dairy sustainability as determined by the selection committee through interview process or student's resume; and
    3) Preference shall be given to the applicant who has greater understanding of the history and contribution of the local dairy industry as determined by the selection committee. 
12. The prospective recipient should have the following special circumstances in the event there is no longer a program in Animal Sciences at CTAHR, then the award may be given to a student in an agricultural program that has a livestock component and addresses sustainability. All other criteria shall be adhered to. 
13. Applicants must include a write up of her/his understanding of the contribution of the dairy industry in the state of Hawaii.

9. The prospective recipient should also have preference shall be given to students who have demonstrated community service for the sick and elderly, especially those who have volunteered care for persons stricken by cancer.
10. Applicants must show proof or evidence s/he had or is currently volunteering/working in a health related facility. It must be human health related. Hence, it can be hospitals, rehab centers, adult care, etc.
