More than 1,200 participants representing 55 countries attended the 21st Hawaiʻi International Conference on Education – which gave plenty of exposure for the posters and talks given by the Dept. of Tropical Plant and Soil Sciences.
Make a note to get your hair done and tuxedo dry cleaned, because the 2023 CTAHR ʻOhana Banquet is set for Thursday, April 13, at the Japanese Cultural Center of Hawaiʻi! Festivities and cocktails will begin at 4:00 p.m., and this year we plan to be pau by 8:00 p.m.!
The 32nd Hawaiʻi legislative session will convene next week, hopefully with Ag concerns fresh in the minds of the Senate Committee on Agriculture and Environment, following their visit to the Waimānalo Research Station. Sen. Mike Gabbard, chair, was joined by committee members Sen. Tim Richards, Sen. Lynn DeCoite, Sen. Brenton Awa and their staff, as well as Micah-Seth Munekata of Ulupono Initiative. They were met by CTAHR’s GoFarm Hawaiʻi program and its farmer-graduates.
Twenty-one people from Sakai Town in Ibaraki Prefecture, Japan, paid a visit to Gilmore Hall to learn about CTAHR's mission and activities, and to introduce CTAHR to the town’s agricultural history and development.
Congrats to Rajesh Jha and his team in the Dept. of Human Nutrition, Food, and Animal Sciences for not one but TWO papers recognized this year! The Journal of Animal Science and Biotechnology recently announced its 2022 Best Paper Award would be bestowed on Rajesh. Earlier this year, the journal Animals awarded his lab the 2022 Best Paper Award.
