NO, murder hornets haven’t yet invaded our shores and NO, the invasive insects haven’t been found in the Mainland area where Hawaiʻi’s Christmas trees are harvested. But as Dan Rubinoff of the Dept. of Plant and Environmental Protection Sciences points out, “Insects and snakes and things like that are settling down for the winter and they want a nice, safe, cozy spot to sleep.
Finish what you started. It’s never easy, but how about an extra round of applause for our Fall 2020 graduates?!
Convocation is this Friday, Dec. 18, 6:00 p.m. via YouTube and Zoom. The ceremonies will include a pre-recorded slideshow, graduating student announcements, and speeches by CTAHR Dean Nicholas Comerford and Associate Dean Ania Wieczorek, and Honored Keynote Speaker John Fink, the president and CEO of Aloha United Way.
In the seafood industry, food preservation is a high priority. This is most apparent in Hawaiʻi, where seafood – and fresh fish in particular – is prized and incorporated into popular local and ethnic dishes, such as poke and sushi, where more fish is consumed per capita than on the Mainland.

Congrats to finalists Morgan Mathers, Tatiana Altieri, Helen Park, and Jessica Rodgers, who have done such a wonderful job this semester building out their business ventures and putting in the effort to introspect, survey their target market, and produce quality work.
Two recipients of a prestigious fellowship award are from CTAHR! The 2020 Founder Region Fellowship, which encompasses Northern California, Hawaiʻi, Guam, the Mariana Islands, and the Republic of Palau, is given to only seven outstanding women doctoral candidates whose area of study improves the lives of women and girls and contributes to the welfare of society.
