Ag Day at the Capitol draws not only legislators, who are educated about agriculture’s critical impact on the local lifestyle and economy, but also members of the public, who come in crowds to eat, talk, and learn. And many CTAHR faculty, staff, and students were there to help with the learning.
In the midst of growing fears of coronavirus and the threat of global pandemics, it may be comforting to attend a presentation on recent advances in biomedicine. Visit Ag Sci 219 on Tuesday, February 18, 10:00–11:00 a.m. for “The Combination of Natural Materials and Nanomedicine: Real Medical Products Helping Real Humans” by visiting speaker Thomas J. Webster.
Please consider nominating individuals for the following two awards: the Ka Pouhana (Mentor) Award, which recognizes a CTAHR faculty member for their outstanding support of student learning and development through co-curricular activities, and the Ka Hana Po‘okela CTAHR Service Award, which recognizes an active member of a CTAHR student organization who has made outstanding contributions to that organization or to the community through the organization.
Know someone doing good work in environmental social sciences? The Department of Natural Resources & Environmental Management has posted an advertisement for a tenure-track assistant professor in the field. This is a 9-month tenure track position.
Mark your calendar for the 45th annual Albert L. Tester Memorial Symposium, which will be held Wednesday, April 22, through Friday, April 24. This year’s Symposium theme, “Our Collective Knowledge,” focuses on integrating traditional science and modern research in Hawai‘i and beyond.
