With many people pursuing altered and/or revised work plans, it’s important to remember to be mindful of your surroundings and be careful when working, whether you’re at the office, field, station, or even your own house. After all, most accidents occur in the home! Make it a priority to prevent any type of work-related accidents through thoughtful planning.
HR’s Christine Nitta offers helpful tips and procedures:
In the event that a work-related injury happens anyway, report it immediately to your supervisor. Employees must complete Form 79 and Form 41, and supervisors must submit the forms to the HR office within 5 days after the incident is reported by the employee.
All workers’ comp claims need to be reported in a timely manner to First Insurance so the WC-1 Report to the Department of Labor can be filed within 7 days of the employee’s notification. Failure to report the new workers’ comp claim to First Insurance expeditiously may result in a monetary fine, which will be charged to the department.
