A Better Beef

Savannah Katulski, a Kaua‘i junior Extension agent, has been awarded a $750 scholarship by the Roy A. Goff Memorial Endowment Fund to support her participation in the Beef Improvement Federation Symposium and Convention in South Dakota. The BIF focuses on beef cattle performance improvement through genetics, nutrition, and other valuable tools, and this conference will bring together producers, researchers, key industry players, and Extension personnel to discuss new research and technology for the beef industry. Savannah will use this opportunity to bring research information, new tools and resources back to Hawai‘i to help improve beef carcass quality and genetics for local production systems.

The Roy A. Goff Endowment supports professional development for CTAHR Extension faculty and staff and is managed by representatives of the Epsilon Sigma Phi Extension fraternity, Hawai‘i Association of Extension 4-H Agents, and the Hawai‘i Association of County Agricultural Agents. The call for applications for the next scholarship will be announced shortly. For information about the scholarship, email Julia Zee at zee@hawaii.edu.
