Scientific Name: Sclerotinia spp.

 

Disease Type: Fungus

 

Plants Affected:

Lettuce

 

Symptom:

  • Wilting and rot of lower leaves, stem, then entire plant
  • White mycelia strands form on decayed areas

 

Control:

  • Remove infected plants from area
  • Avoid leaf wetness and over watering soil wetness, such as by careful drip irrigation
  • Implement crop rotations and deep tilling to reduce fungal population
