After a three-year hiatus, members of the UH community excitedly gathered at the UH Insect Museum on February 16 to celebrate the 214th birthday of Charles Darwin. Visitors to the Dept. of Plant and Environmental Protection Sciences were able to view the museum’s impressive collection of more than 300,000 insect specimens, interact with a variety of live marine invertebrates, and enjoy a generous spread of refreshments – including insect-based snacks!

CTAHR Showcase & Research Symposium (SRS) is just around the corner!  Please register to attend and cheer on our students.  We have over 50 undergraduate and graduate students presenting their creative works and research projects on Monday, March 27th.   SRS includes a networking breakfast, opening remarks, presentations, with a networking lunch to follow.  Please visit the SRS website for more information.

Attending conferences gets expensive for graduate students. Last year’s orchid sale by the Plant Pathology Graduate Student Organization provided funding to FOUR graduate students to represent UH at national meetings. You can support our budding scientists – and get some beautiful plants for your home decor.

On the misty morning of Saturday, February 25th, hundreds of people gathered at the Amy B.H Greenwell Ethnobotanical Garden to celebrate Hawaiian culture and natural history at the 2023 Grow Hawaiian Festival. Hosted by the Friends of Amy B.H Greenwell Ethnobotanical Garden, the festival was the garden’s first event in over 3 years.
