The Center for Tropical and Subtropical Aquaculture, one of five regional aquaculture centers in the U.S. established and funded by the U.S. Dept. of Agriculture's National Institute of Food and Agriculture, has announced six new projects that have been approved and will begin this month or very soon. Congrats to Jinan Banna of the Dept. of Human Nutrition, Food and Animal Sciences. Jinan was recognized by the Journal of Nutrition Education and Behavior for authoring or co-authoring 8 to 10 papers over the past 10 years.

With more than 50 varieties of carrots out there, choosing the right one to grow successfully in Hawaiʻi can be a daunting task. The need for hands-on guidance – and the public’s interest for learning more – was apparent Aug. 5 as Extension’s Jensen Uyeda and Koon-Hui Wang of the Dept. of Plant and Environmental Protection Sciences held a Field Day at the Poamoho Experiment Station.
