The conference will be held October 10 and 11, at the Hawai'i Convention Center.
Ola HAWAI‘I is calling for proposals for collaborative research projects conducted by faculty of the UH System to determine causes of and interventions for communities in Hawai‘i that suffer disproportionately from genetic, environmental, and socioeconomic disparities in health and healthcare access, particularly Native Hawaiians, other Pacific Islanders, and Filipinos.
The National Pork Board is soliciting research proposals dealing with “Sustainability – Air.” This request seeks proposals to conduct an evaluation of the representativeness of air emissions-monitoring data collected from swine operations under the National Air Emissions Monitoring Study relative to emissions from the predominate swine-production systems in use today.
Shu Hwa Lin (FDM) invited Ph.D. candidate Ching I “Genny” Lai to CTAHR as a visiting scholar to learn 3D body scanning in the department. A designer of smart clothing, Genny is planning to research and design electromagnetic protection garments for children with 3D body scanning technology under Shu Hwa’s guidance.
About 100 students, faculty, and staff attended the CTAHR Fall Fair on Friday, September 21. This year’s event had a special focus: the new student lounge, which offers students a safe place to meet, study, and learn. It is also the home of the new student food pantry, which will be expanding throughout the year.
