Coffee production education is getting into full swing with the start of another coffee-growing season. The Kona Cooperative Extension Service and Kona Research Station are welcoming farmers to attend upcoming coffee events. Coffee berry borer (CBB) 101 workshops will be conducted in Kona on February 5 and 8.

Find out more about them at the Hydroponics Open House in Waimanalo, hosted by O‘ahu County Extension agents and CTAHR researchers. It’s a pop-in event, which means that participants can come by anytime during it for lots of helpful information.

Women of science unite! While eating waffles. In honor of their 100th anniversary, the International Union of Pure and Applied Chemistry is working with the American Chemical Society to sponsor a Global Women’s Breakfast, entitled “Empowering Women in Chemistry: A Global Networking Event.” This event will feature a breakfast in each time zone around the world, with Hawai‘i representing the final time zone of the day.

Abstract submissions are now open for the 44th Annual Albert L. Tester Memorial Symposium, an annual symposium organized by and for students and hosted by the Department of Biology to showcase life sciences research at UH. CTAHR students like Roberto Rodriguez (pictured) have won awards in previous Tester Symposia.
