Speed Networking

The ASAO recently hosted its second CTAHR Student–Faculty luncheon, where freshmen and transfer students had the opportunity to meet and chat with faculty and the dean and associate deans. It started off with a speed networking session, in which the faculty and leadership spent five minutes introducing themselves to small groups of students.

The first fundraiser for the Hawaii Foodbank is with the Great Harvest Bread Company! The pre-sale deadline is 4 p.m. on Monday, April 2—submit cash and your order form to Candice in Gilmore 203. Pickup is on Wednesday, April 11, from 4 to 4:45 p.m. in the Dean’s office, Gilmore 202.

The undergraduate Sustainability Certificate program is nearing approval! CTAHR faculty interested in sustainability issues are invited to a meeting on April 6 in Sherman 103, from 10 to 11 a.m., to identify areas in which to focus efforts to grow sustainability-relevant research, education, and Extension in the college.

Vector to Success

PhD student Priscilla Seabourn was awarded a $1,000 scholarship to attend a special summer Biology of Vector-borne Diseases course in Idaho. She studies the microbiome of mosquitoes in Hawai‘i.
