Family Friends

Welcome to new FCS faculty Sothy Eng and Rheta Kuwahara! Sothy will be teaching Family Resiliency and Community Development courses, while helping to develop food systems for resilient families and communities in Hawai‘i, Cambodia, and across the Pacific. Rheta will provide instruction in the early childhood and childhood curriculum.

The new Bee House at Maui County Cooperative Extension’s  Research and Education Demonstration Center provides an observational hive to augment youth and community educational projects on beekeeping and the importance of bees to Island agriculture.

Graduate Assistant Russell Galanti spent the summer at the foot of Tanzania’s Mount Meru as a Trellis Fund fellow, working to improve child malnutrition through increased vegetable production with the use of sustainable agriculture.

Propagation With CTAHR Pride

When the Western Region International Plant Propagation Society held its annual conference in Kona last week, plenty of present and former members of the CTAHR ‘ohana were there to provide information and support, including Noa Lincoln, Orville Baldos, Ethan Romanchak, Nellie Sugii, Tim Kroessig, Tracie Matsumoto, Ty McDonald, Norman Bezona, and Rich Criley.
