Don’t Miss the CRISPR Star

Researcher Jennifer Doudna, a pioneer of CRISPR research, will present a special seminar on “CRISPR Biology: The Future of Genome Editing” on Tuesday, September 18 at 3 p.m. in the Sullivan Center Auditorium at the UH Cancer Center (in Kaka‘ako, next to JABSOM). Dr. Doudna holds the Li Ka Shing Chancellor’s Professorship in Biomedicine and Health at UC Berkeley and also teaches chemistry, biochemistry, and molecular biology. She directs the Innovative Genomics Institute, a joint program between UC Berkeley and UC San Francisco, and has been an investigator with the Howard Hughes Medical Institute (HHMI) since 1997. Her recent awards include the Japan Prize for Pioneers in Medical Science in 2017, being chosen as a Fellow of the Royal Society of the UK in 2016, and the Breakthrough Prize in Life Sciences in 2014. Graduate students are invited to bring your lunch to meet informally with Dr. Doudna at JABSOM on Tuesday, September 18. Please contact Dr. David Haymer (dhaymer@hawaii.edu) if you are interested in participating in the lunch or seminar. Dr. Doudna’s visit is sponsored by the Robert T. Wong Lectureship.
