Talk About Growing

The effects of COVID-19 continue to take their toll on local agricultural producers. Growers tell of a diversity of challenges—as well as new opportunities—arising from the pandemic. While some small producers have noted an increase in sales immediately following COVID-19 detection in Hawai‘i, others who were selling their products to large retail, wholesale, or restaurant chains now struggle to move the same volume without these venues. Labor, food storage, sales, financial stability, unemployment, and more are affecting them.

Join CTAHR for a virtual talk-story session with local producers, in collaboration with the Hawaii Farm Bureau, Hawai‘i Farmers Union, and Kohala Center. It will be held this Sunday, April 26, from 4:00 to 5:00 p.m. Please contact Nicole Milne at nmilne@kohalacenter.org for a link to the online video conference.
