Grow Easy

Fascinated by the idea of hydroponics but worry that it’s too complicated? Emeritus professor Bernie Kratky (TPSS) pioneered ways of designing non-circulating hydroponic systems that are easy to make and use, without having to worry about electric pumps or checking the nutrient content of the water—he’s even got a publication showing how to grow heads of gorgeous lettuce in gallon bottles! He also describes his methods in videos, making it even simpler to see what to do. He recently released a new video, this one describing how to grow a variety of slow-bolting arugula, ‘Adagio’, in a non-circulating hydroponic tank. Hydroponic systems conserve water, and they make it easier to control pests, including the slugs that may carry rat lungworm. Check it out!
