A Top Researcher

What does it take to become a world-renowned scientific investigator? Only the top researchers in the world can answer that question – and Samir Kumar Khanal of the Dept. of Molecular Biosciences and Bioengineering is officially recognized as one of them by Research.com, the leading research portal for science rankings.

When Samir joined CTAHR in 2008, he brought with him years of experience as an investigator in anaerobic digestion, nanobubble technology, aquaponics, and waste management. Over the past 15 years in the college, Samir has been awarded numerous accolades and recognition for his contributions to the field of molecular biology. After years of tireless dedication to his research, Samir was named one of the best researchers in the world.

With more than 152 publications and an impressive 10,490 citations, Samir was ranked the 1,070th best researcher in the U.S. and 2,414th in the world for scientists in the field of Environmental Sciences. The ranking process, which evaluates 11,000+ scientists’ profiles, is based on a D-index metric, or the number of papers receiving a D-index of at least 30 citations within the area of Environmental Sciences. Rankings are also determined by awards received by researchers and the impact of their work on their field.
