Get Schooled on Aquaculture

Andre Seale in the Department of Human Nutrition, Food and Animal Sciences will host an international mini-symposium, “Approaches for Experimental Challenges in Aquaculture Research,” with Darren Okimoto and Darren Lerner from UH Sea Grant on January 15. Other CTAHR presenters include Fritzie Celino-Brady and Rajesh Jha, who will speak on “In Vitro Techniques and Experimental Designs to Investigate the Effects of Environmental Pollution in Fish Models” and “Fish Feeding Program for Successful Aquaculture,” respectively. Andre will discuss “From Live cell Imaging to Radioimmunoassays to Animal Facilities: Approaches in Tilapia Research.”

Targeted to graduate and undergraduate students, as well as faculty and those interested in laboratory approaches, techniques, and facilities for aquaculture research, it will include a discussion session and cover some funding initiatives and mechanisms available.

Lunch will be provided. You can RSVP by emailing seagrant@hawaii.edu.
