Kim (Kamalu) Joaquin has started as the new office assistant in the Kamuela Cooperative Extension Office as of Tuesday, May 29. She comes to the college by way of the North Hawaii Community Hospital in Kamuela, and we’re glad she made the switch. Welcome to the CTAHR ‘ohana, Kim!

PEPS faculty Koon-Hui Wang (right) and Jamie Boyd from Windward Community College’s Nursing School are featured in the documentary film In Search of Balance, about how agroecology, soil health management, healthy diet, and human health are all interconnected.

Associate Dean Ania Wieczorek and the Saturday Gene-iuses program, and the “Wow Factor” that they promote in kids, are featured in the Good Neighbor column of Midweek Magazine. It’s good timing, because registration is now open for the program, which will start up again in the fall.

MBBE grad student Natalija Glibetic has won multiple awards on campus for sepsis research conducted at the UH Cancer Center in Michelle Matter’s Cancer Biology Program lab.

Aleta Corpuz, who just graduated with an MS in Horticulture, has been awarded the Bruce Briggs Memorial Scholarship for 2018 by the International Plant Propagators Society (IPPS). Aleta, who worked as a graduate assistant to Orville Baldos, is interested in using native plants as ornamentals and starting a native plant nursery.
