MBBE alumnus Zhibin (Ben) Liang will be starting his post-doctoral career at the Salk Institute for Biological Studies, continuing the research on Alzheimer’s disease that has already garnered him success. Best of luck to Ben in his future endeavors!

We are saddened to report the sudden loss of collaborator, alumnus, and PEPS affiliate professor Roger Vargas, a research entomologist at the USDA’s Pacific Basin Agricultural Research Center in Hilo. After earning his doctorate from CTAHR, Roger became an internationally renowned expert in the biological control of fruit flies.

Brian Richardson, a reference librarian in Business, Humanities, and Social Sciences at Hamilton Library, will be conducting an online workshop on Zotero, a free and easy-to-use tool for collecting, organizing, and citing your research sources. It will be on Thursday, July 19, at 11 a.m. via Bluejeans software.

Joshua Silva and the rest of O‘ahu Cooperative Extension will be holding a Celery Variety Trial Field Day on July 26, from 10 a.m. to noon, at the Poamoho Research Station. Participants will be able to observe nine commercially available celery varieties and discuss production practices.
