Fostering Family Well-Being

Fostering Family Well-Being
Loriena Yancura’s (FCS) CSREES Multistate project, “Rural Families Speak About Health,” has just published an entire special issue summarizing publications and findings from the project. Lori is co-author of the article “Understanding Family Well-Being in the Context of Rural Poverty: Lessons from the Rural Families Project,” which discusses various aspects of family dynamics in poor rural families, including social support networks, childcare responsibilities, family-work balance, and routines and rituals. It argues for the importance of multi-generational households and for policies that support family leave, high-quality childcare, and other ways to balance work and family life.
