DEPARTMENT OF
Family and Consumer Sciences
Effective this Fall, the College of Tropical Agriculture and Human Resilienceʻs Human Development and Family Studies program will be known as Human Development and Family Science (HDFS). The new name better indicates that students earn a Bachelor of Science degree, aligning with the science-based curriculum. Students in HDFS are provided with a comprehensive, ecological systems-based program of study in human development, family development, and family resource management. The curriculum offers students a multitude of experiences through coursework and off-campus activities, giving them the knowledge and professional skills needed for careers in family/human services. The degree also provides an excellent foundation for graduate study.
