Melissa L. HDFS alumni of 2017

HDFS alumni Melissa is currently a graduate student at UH Manoa in Nursing. She completed an accelerated BSN program and is now in her 2^nd year to earn her Doctorate in Family Nursing Practice. “During undergrad, I knew I wanted to be in healthcare and what I learned from HDFS is invaluable and will always be a part of my nursing career. As a future Nurse Practitioner, I’m not only going to deal with disease & illness management, but also family and human development. HDFS has taught me to look at my patients in a holistic manner and understand them in all aspects of their lives, family being an important one. From womb to tomb, being a Family NP means that I must understand how an individual progresses through these different stages, and I will always thank HDFS for giving me that knowledge.”
